Chimaev just fought out the biggest test of his mixed martial arts career as he took on former title challenger Gilbert Burns in just his 5th UFC fight. Even though this split decision victory was not ideal for the ‘Borz’ brand, it has propelled the Swede into the mainstream of the combat sports scene. And now the whole industry has Chimaev on the lookout.

One of the most prominent names in combat sports, Teddy Atlas, is one of the people who have ‘Borz’ in their good books, and he just compared Chimaev with arguably his greatest apprentice, Mike Tyson.

“Yeah, proof once again. As I have always told my children,” Atlas said. “I have always said to them as they were growing up and facing different challenges- there are no Supermen, there aren’t.”

“In real life, nobody’s got an ‘S’ on their chest, nobody. It’s just a matter of where is that Kryptonite? And when will they meet up with that Kryptonite?”

“But up to this point, it didn’t look like Chimaev was human. I mean, he looked like a mystical figure and he was taking on that proportions, you know.”

“Which is great! I mean it’s great promotion, and its great anticipation. It’s great for the sport. It’s great for the fans. But it was taking on those… Kind of like my Mike Tyson was like this monster. He’s different. He’s not human. You can’t beat him, he’s unbeatable. He’s a force of nature. That’s what it was.”

Mike Tyson gives Israel Adesanya a solution for Khamzat Chimaev

Mike Tyson, the legendary fighter that he is, has experienced all the scenarios a modern-day fighter can go through. And he also has a solution to almost all of them as well.

So, when UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya discussed Khamzat Chimaev and the Swede’s constant poking with the former boxing heavyweight champion, Tyson came up with a solution.

Tyson, while talking to Adesanya on the Hotboxin’ podcast, told him about his early days and how he called upon fighters who nudged him, just like Chimaev is doing to Adesanya, to spar with him and deal with them outside the official ring.

Hence, Tyson asked Adesanya to go about the same way and deal with Chimaev how Tyson dealt with his challengers back in his prime.
