The ugly truth of one of Mayweather Jr’s fights
Floyd Mayweather Jr’s first-ever exhibition bout took place on new years eve of 2018. The former champ flew to Japan in one of the most unexpected bouts of his career. He agreed to fight a rising combat sports superstar, Tenshin Nasukawa, who was 20 when this bout occurred. And in the recent podcast episode, Rogan discussed some unseen facts about this bout.
The American podcaster and Masvidal discussed about who would prevail if Mayweather Jr. and Nasukawa had a kickboxing match. And, the duo agreed that the former five division world champion stood no chance against the Japanese. Discussing this Rogan exclaimed, “Oh my god! Tenshin would have f*cked him up.”
But then the conversation veered towards the fine details of the exhibition boxing bout the two had. And the popular American podcaster pointed out the massive size difference between Mayweather and Nasukawa that proved to be an advantage for the former apart from the obviously huge gap in boxing skills.
Rogan said, “He[Tenshin] is tiny. He’s so small compared to Mayweather. He had no business being in there with him.”
Further, Rogan gave his response to the people who believed that it was a fixed fight. He said, “No, it wasn’t a fixed fight. It’s a tiny guy against the best boxer of all time.”
Rogan still couldn’t wrap his around this unlikely bout between the two. ‘Money’ Mayweather was paid $9 million for this fight against Nasukawa.
Rogan said, “There’s no reason why they should’ve been doing that.”
This fight can be regarded as one which started the exhibition bouts spree for Mayweather Jr . This specific fight witnessed 37,000 fans gathered in the stadium to see a rising star clash with one of the greatest boxers in the world.
