Terence Crawford might be a freak of nature. In addition to being an undefeated three-division undisputed boxer, ‘Bud’ can also wrestle. This was in full display in Giza. The former undisputed super middleweight champion has made his way to the Pyramids of Giza for the ‘Glory in Giza’ boxing event on Saturday night. And he is not alone.

He is joined by plenty of other big names who are at the venue to promote the event. And among them was Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia. However, the Aussie might not have expected to start wrestling when he got there. In a clip uploaded to Instagram by Crawford, the pair can be seen wrestling with the pyramids in the background.
“The sky is just a view it was never the limit❗️LIVING 🇪🇬,” Crawford wrote in the post with the video.
In the video, Crawford is seen grappling with Opetaia, taking his back, lifting him off the ground, and carrying him forward before releasing him. The exchange was clearly light-hearted banter between the two fighters rather than a serious contest. Responding in the post’s comment section, Opetaia quickly claimed that Crawford had cheated.
“Cheated, wasn’t ready! 😂🤝,” Opetaia wrote.
“@jaiopetaia 😂😂😂 when you stay ready u ain’t gotta get ready champ,” Crawford wrote back.

This might not be a surprise for most Crawford fans, but ‘Bud’ has a solid wrestling background. In fact, his family is full of wrestlers. He was introduced to wrestling by a close family friend at a young age and embraced it before fully committing to boxing. He wrestled during his youth and into his high school years in Omaha.
In any case, the clip was quickly shared on X by Boxing n BBQ and went viral. And for those who didn’t know about Crawford’s wrestling background, it came as a bit of a shock.
Ilia Topuria was dragged into the mix after Terence Crawford displayed wrestling skills
People quickly flooded the comment section with opinions. One fan felt Terence Crawford could beat UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria with ease. “He slimes out Topuria in MMA too,” the fan wrote. ‘El Matador’ has previously called out Crawford for a boxing match, but the latter dismissed him.
Someone else was shocked by Crawford’s wrestling pedigree. “Bud a f—kin monster bro what😂,” the user posted. What makes it even more impressive is that Crawford is a super middleweight at best, and Jai Opetaia is a cruiserweight. However, their off-competition weight may differ.
Meanwhile, this user roped in Canelo Alvarez. The user commented: “Canelo sittin on the side probably saying to himself, damn I lost to this crazy strong a— mfr.” Terence Crawford utterly dominated Canelo during their undisputed title fight last year despite being seen as an underdog.
Someone else felt Terence Crawford was unbeatable. “Terence Crawford is a bad man, although he’s retired, but I don’t see anybody beating him 🤣😂,” the user commented. There have been some comparisons among fans between Crawford and David Benavidez. However, that fight may not happen because ‘Bud’ has retired from the sport.
Another user branded Terence Crawford an annoying friend. “Bud is that annoying friend who’s always trying to wrestle you and being handsy,” the user wrote. Opetaia doesn’t seem to mind the exchange all too much.
In an alternate universe, Terence Crawford may have pursued a career in wrestling. Do you think he would have turned out to be as successful in wrestling as he is in boxing?
