UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal has become an internet sensation lately. The former title challenger known for his striking prowess shares a lot of incidents related to combat sports, especially boxing. He even involves his fans who also share their opinions on the videos. Moreover, Gamebred recently shared an infamous video where a cornerman sucker punches the opposing fighter.

The incident happened during the rematch between Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui, ending in a controversial victory for the former. Uzcategui was disqualified due to punching Dirrell after the bell rang, marking the end of the round. Following this, things got ugly as Dirrell’s uncle and trainer, Leon Lawson Jr., bolted across the ring to Uzcategui’s corner and sucker-punched him in the face with a left hook followed by a right hand.

Moreover, fans were also quick to jump in as they reacted to the video showcasing the dark side of boxing.

Fans outrage over Jorge Masvidal sharing a sucker punch video

One fan hilariously compared this to a family feud. He also called for talk show host Steve Harvey to jump in on the action. “LoL love a good family feud. Somebody get Steve Harvey on the phone…survey says….lol.” he wrote.

Another fan claimed that the trainer couldn’t even knock the boxer out with a sucker punch. “Can’t even knock him out with a sucker punch lol” he wrote.

Moreover, one fan expressed his anger claiming that he would’ve reacted more aggressively if he was in that situation. “Yeah one of my employees or my trainer did something like that. I would’ve goddamn Suter a*s.” He wrote.

One fan went as far as calling for the ban of these coaches and trainers during matches. “Those idiots should be charged and never allowed in any place where their boxer is fighting.” he wrote

Another fan cited this as a weak display of sportsmanship. “Mad cause his side lost. Showed weak sportsmanship,” he wrote.

However, one fan stated that the boxers should protect themselves at all times, as one never knows when a situation could escalate. “Follow the rules. Protect yourself at all times.  He never know who’s on steroids.” He wrote.

The fans seemed to unanimously agree that these types of incidents need to be curbed. Sucker punches from fighters and trainers have been a part of the sport for a long time. However, harsher rules are required to prevent people from engaging in such unprofessional acts.
