The training with Mendez was hinted previously, as well. “I don’t see why if I can do boxing at this high of a level that I couldn’t do MMA at this high of a level,” Paul had stated while promoting his rematch with Tyron Woodley. “I’m gonna go get coached up by Jav Mendez, Team Khabib. They’re down 100 percent,” he added.

The coach and founder of the MMA gym AKA, Javier Mendez, confirmed Jake Paul’s entry into his gym. He said that he had exchanged direct messages with Paul. Another factor that sums up the equation involves Paul’s coach, Jacob Chavez, who is a coach at AKA and is a friend to Javier Mendez.

Chael Sonnen, the former mixed martial artist, talked about Jake Paul’s debut into the octagon and his training at the American Kickboxing Academy. He praised Paul for being respectful and dropping hints for the audience and forcing them to talk about his plans. Sonnen believes that when Paul tells us something, then he is being serious about it.

Sonnen connected the dots and said, “It sounds as though Jake would not enter a tournament. That’s just my guess. If he did, that’d be pretty cool”. He believes that Paul’s first time in the octagon is going to be a one-off. Paul does his boxing on Showtime, which hosts Bellator. The perfect opponent for Jake Paul would be Conor McGregor’s sparring partner, Dillon Danis, believes Chael Sonnen. “I could see something very very interesting with Jake and One Championship”, said Sonnen, while also believing that Bellator would be the leading candidate for Paul.
