However, Rousey was not only the face of the UFC inside the ring but also outside the sport. She was one of the if not the most marketable athletes along with Conor McGregor and paved the way for female fighters who now dominate the promotion. Moreover, like McGregor Rousey also wanted to try her hand at boxing. In an interview with TMZ back in 2015 she claimed that she could beat Muhammad Ali’s daughter and former world champion Laila Ali in a boxing match.

She stated that she although she would have to train for the match, being an Olympic athlete this was not a colossal task fir her. “Honestly, I think I could beat her in boxing too really, to be honest but you know. I’m an Olympic athlete and I would want time to focus on that entirely but if I can go from judo to MMA why couldn’t I go from MMA to boxing?  You know and I think that having that kind of belief in yourself is really important to be the kind of level that I’m trying to be” she said

In addition, she added that a lot of people were offended by her egotistical mindset but claimed that this was just mindset and was not meant to offend anyone. “I think a lot of people are really offended by the mindset that it takes to be the best in the world. Just because I think I could be the best in the world at anything. That’s not offending anyone and insulting anyone. I wasn’t insulted by Laila Ali. She’s thinking that she could beat me, yeah because she’s a world champion boxer that’s the way that she has to think” she added

A champion’s mindset is one that dismisses doubt even if there is little belief. Rousey perfectly put this in words as she shared how a champion is hard-wired. Moreover, she even claimed that Ali was a champion boxer and had every right to think the same way as her.
