Dillian Whyte wants to compete in MMA and boxing at the same time.
Jamaican-British boxer Dillian Whyte is 27-1 in his boxing career. Although he has an upcoming fight with Alexander Povetkin, Whyte has his sights set on MMA. Previously, the ‘Body Snatcher‘ stated his interest to compete in the UFC. He believes that he can give the top heavyweights a run for their money.
Whyte specifically called out Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic, two of the top heavyweights in the company. According to Whyte, the only way the UFC fighters can beat him is by taking him down. Furthermore, Whyte stated that he can knock out “Chinless” Francis Ngannou, the division’s best knockout artist.

Dillian Whyte sends a stern message
In a recent interview with iFL TV, Whyte reiterated his intentions to compete in the UFC. He said that he wants to do MMA and boxing simultaneously.
“Whoever wants it, can get it! Anyone, anytime, anywhere,” Dillian said.” Imagine being a champion in two different combat sports at the same time, simultaneously.”
Whyte has one MMA match on his résumé in which he defeated his opponent in 12 seconds. However, boxing prowess alone is not enough to succeed in mixed martial arts.

Fighters spend years of their life mastering the arts of grappling, striking, and ground game. Even a good kickboxer with no wrestling defense or ground game will get dominated against the fence and on the ground.
Germaine de Randamie vs Amanda Nunes 2 is a great example of elite-level striker vs a seasoned grappler with a high-level ground game. Despite getting more than 5 years to improve her takedown defense, there wasn’t much Germaine could do in the rematch against Amanda.
Can Dillian transition to MMA?
It depends on the person’s learning abilities. For example, Francis Ngannou wanted to become a boxer but decided to try out MMA and got pretty good at it. Unlike other fighters, Francis did not spend more than half of his life training in various martial arts.

Dillian is much more privileged now than Francis was back then. He can utilize his resources to learn the fundamentals of MMA, as quickly as possible. At 32 years old, Whyte is probably still in his athletic prime. But will he be able to handle a hectic schedule? And how long can he do it?

Besides that, will Dana White entertain a contract that allows him to transition between the UFC and boxing? We know he did it with Conor McGregor. Still, that was a one-off. He could try out other promotions. But will it be worth it?
