The UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, had expressed his desire to crossover to boxing for a face-off with the undisputed champion, Canelo Alvarez. Recently, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager, Aziz Abdelaziz, took to social media to call out Alvarez for not fighting Usman.

In a tweet, Abdelaziz called Alvarez a coward, for fighting boxers who aren’t popular enough. He said, “@Canelo is an absolute chicken, he is fighting guys with 5000 followers on Instagram, these guys will never do nothing for his legacy.”

Moreover, he also mentioned that Alvarez is scared to lose to Usman. He added, “This is chicken style, no risk – no reward.”

However, Alvarez seemed amused by Abdelaziz’s tweet. He retaliated by saying, “Who the f*** is this?”

Abdelaziz was not very pleased by Alvarez’s reply. In fact, he mentioned that Alvarez knows him well, but was acting ignorant.

Further he also made a comparison between Alvarez and Usman. He said, “You know the difference between you and @USMAN84kg? You’ve been ducking GGG for 2 years now, but Kamaru have fought everybody UFC threw at him.”

Abdelaziz was referring to the rivalry and the two matches between Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

However, Abdelaziz ended by saying, “I’m being very nice to you, because it’s Ramadan.”

Kamaru Usman’s last appearance in the ring was at UFC 268. He defended his UFC welterweight title against Colby Covington, and was declared the winner by ‘unanimous decision’.

He had then expressed his desire to crossover into boxing and fight Alvarez.

Talking about his decision, he said, “I’m not afraid to go over that challenge. I’m not afraid to do that.”

He also mentioned that Alvarez may not take up the challenge. Usman said, “He can overlook, all he wants to overlook. But, he’s fighting guys over there that nobody knows.”

However, Usman was confident about fighting Alvarez. He said, “September, Mexican Independence day. I will stop Canelo Alvarez.”

When asked about fighting Usman, Alvarez said, “Never say no. But right now, it’s not in my future. No not right now.”

Further, he also added that he is working on his legacy currently. He said, “It’s all about legacy now. But you never know.”
