This will be the second time an opponent pulled out from facing The Problem Child, with his original opponent Tommy Fury also pulling out from the fight citing visa issues. Moreover, many people came to Paul’s support, including UFC president Dana White, who voiced his concern for the Ohio-based boxer.
Dana White sympathizes with Jake Paul
In the post-fight fight press conference of UFC 277, White was asked by a reporter to share his thoughts on the Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. getting canceled just one week before the fight.
“You have a saying that you put on fights every weekend. I don’t know if you saw the news, but apparently, not everyone can do that. Jake Paul’s fight ends up being canceled a week out from the bout. I wondered if you had any thoughts on that.” The reporter asked White.
The UFC president responded by stating that he would not gloat about the fight falling through and claimed that both fighters worked very hard for it to end up like this.”Nobody can do that, nobody can do it. And you know, I am not gonna sit up here and be happy or gloat that their fight fell out. I mean, both those guys, I am sure, put in a lot of hard work and a lot of training to get ready for this fight, spent money to get ready for this fight.” White told the reporter.

Following this, the reporter also asked White whether they could get their money back from the venue and how they could proceed further. “You would know better than me, do they get that money back if they put a deposit on it, the Garden… how does this work if you re-arrange the date or you cancel an event this closer?” He asked.

White stated that this depended on their contract with the venue, which he had no information about, “It depends on their deal with MSG. I don’t know, that’s up to them and MSG. I don’t know what their deal, I know what my deal is, I don’t know what their deal is.” He said.
