“I Don’t Think That’s A Good Excuse”- Israel Adesanya Blasts Deontay Wilder For Loss

The costume Deontay Wilder wore on his walkout has been subject to a lot of flak. Tyson Fury took on Deontay Wilder after their first matchup ended in a controversial draw. Israel Adesanya after an open workout session responded to questions regarding the fight.

Considering that Israel Adesanya is one of the biggest walkout buffs in the UFC. A question regarding Wilder’s outrageous walkout was only natural.

“I don’t think that’s a good excuse. I don’t think that’s why he lost the fight. Gypsy King was just the better boxer on the night.”- Israel Adesanya

Adesanya feels Wilder’s excuse does not make any sense. He feels Fury prevailed that night because he was the better boxer. And may have had the better entrance as well. The Gypsy King controlled the fight forcing Wilder’s team to throw in the towel some time into the seventh round.

Israel Adesanya and Others Talk About The Art Of Walkouts

In the days following the fight, Wilder came out saying that his extravagant costume was one of the biggest reasons behind the first loss of his career. As a tribute to Black History Month, the fighter came out to the ring clad in a 40-pound suit at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

“He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is my uniform was way too heavy for me, I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight.”- Deontay Wilder told Yahoo Sports.

Even UFC President Dana White shared his two cents on the topic to TMZ Sports. White feels the Bronze Bomber’s suit did have a role to play in his loss, however minor it was. Nevertheless White still believes Fury was the better fighter that night.

“You don’t put this gear on and all this stuff. That’s why I don’t do any of that bullsh*t in the UFC. I don’t like it.”- Dana White on Wilder’s costume.

UFC’s outfitting policy agreement with Reebok restricts the fighters to exercise creativity while planning their walkout. Which may seem like a good call at times.

“Everybody keeps talking about Deontay, but look at ‘Gypsy King. His walkout was phenomenal. He had four chicks carrying him on a stretcher thing with a throne. That’s beautiful. Deontay’s was beautiful as well.”- Israel Adesanya

Fury is set to take on Wilder in the final part of what seems to look like a trilogy. There is speculation that the fight will take place in July. The Confirmation for the fight is yet to come.
