However, ‘Gamebred’ was left stunned after he found out about the former 3-time world boxing champion, Shane Mosley’s divorce settlement.

Back in 2011, Mosley and his now ex-wife Jin came to terms on a divorce settlement. In this settlement, his ex-wife would receive half of all the fight purses Mosley earned during his career and half of the profits from DVD sales of his blockbuster fights. Moreover, Jin would also get 3 of ‘Sugar’s’  championship belts.

This news left Masvidal stunned as he took to social media and shared a video on this with the caption. “She’s now the 3x WBC World Champion! ” He also stated that this was hard for him to believe. ” Just WILD AF” he wrote

The couple settled their divorce under California’s community property laws, which stated that all assets acquired during a marriage are community property. Under his law property is split 50-50 upon divorce. Assets include everything from career-related earnings to credit card points. This is the reason why Mosley’s ex-wife will receive half of his career purses.

The 51-year-old retired from boxing in 2017.

Shane Mosley reveals the real reason why he retired from boxing

Mosley fought in the ring till the age of 45, a feat not usually seen in the world of boxing. However, it might have been fate that stopped the British boxer from fighting through his late 40s. In an interview with ESPN back in 2017 he revealed that the reason for his retirement was caused by a failed arthroscopic surgery.

“I went in for a minor arthroscopic surgery to remove a couple loose bone fragments from my elbow and the surgery turned into a whole ordeal after the surgeon admittedly ‘accidentally’ burned me on my forearm, leading to a sick infection and needing like four or five days of IV antibiotics and two weeks of antibiotics at home.” he said

Mosley had a career spanning 25 years and was considered to be among the most elite boxers during his time. Moreover, he managed to push the boundaries of durability fight at the highest level during his career.
