On Saturday night, Volkanovski settled the Trilogy battle spectacularly. He dominated the entire contest and buried the grudge with his rival, Max Holloway. The champion defended his UFC featherweight title for the fourth time by unanimous victory and improved his record to 25-1.
Holloway, who was not satisfied with earlier meets at UFC 245 and UFC 251 in 2019 and 2020, respectively, came forth to settle the business. Volkanovski did not want the same controversial decisions and so he came to dominate with fresh instinct. His counter-hitting was accurate, and his defense played a key role in stopping the challenger.
Both fighters relied on striking till the fourth round. It was only in the final round when unsuccessful attempts were made by the challenger with the intention of turning the tables on the champion. But all went in vain as the judges’ verdict was completely in favor of Volkanovski.
