Mike Tyson and Conor McGregor share many things in common. When the duo looks back at the struggles of their life, they wonder how they earned such fame and wealth and became synonyms to combat sports. Since Tyson had been through this entire crushing and learning phase much before McGregor came into the limelight, he has few suggestions for the UFC megastar, who lost the right track of life in the glare of publicity.

Following the submission loss to the biggest rival of his UFC career, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, ‘The Notorious’ was involved in a string of controversies. Instead of making his way to Octagon, the champion was appearing in court to deal with charges.

This reminded Tyson of his heydays when he had everything in life that he once dreamed of but had no control over. That eventually cost him. He fell prey to the wrong circle, went to jail, and lost all money through reckless spending.

“Conor has to look inside himself and [ask], ‘What happened? Why am I the way I am? We don’t know how to handle this stuff. We got millions of dollars. We never had this. Our families never had this. We’ve never been around this life, ” Tyson said.

Notably, Tyson grew up in a crime-ridden neighborhood. His father left him when he was two. His mother used to work to fulfill the basic needs of his life. On the other hand, McGregor also lived a very normal life. He worked as a plumber to support himself, so when he got things in abundance, he seemed overwhelmed and acted out.

Tyson added, “All of a sudden you start fighting, doing something you love to do, and you do it easily, and all of a sudden they give you a lot of money for doing it. You give it away, you buy people gifts that don’t deserve gifts. You just don’t know what to do with it, you feel you don’t deserve it.”
