In the world of sports, fans tend to voice their opinion on what they think of certain athletes which may lead to hostility. Jake Paul‘s recent take on an athlete has gotten him into troubled waters. Not to mention, the 24-year-old is an already polarizing figure; his actions are always scrutinized by the public and at times lead him to controversy.

Paul was a victim of the same when he picked American swimmer, Michael Phelps, as the most overrated athlete of all time. His answer raised eyebrows in the world of sports. It is widely agreed that Phelps is one of the greatest athletes to have ever existed. Yet, Paul’s opinion of Phelps got him a lot of flack. Not only did the fans call him out on his unpopular opinion, but also, others who were present in the room at the time made him rethink his answer.

In a re-surfaced clip posted by @betr on Twitter, Paul was asked to pick the most overrated athlete. It took him a moment to find an answer and even confessed, “That’s a really hard question”

However, after giving much it thought, he stated, “Michael Phelps,” and then went on to say, “It’s just swimming, like who cares.”

Thereafter, everyone present in the room had a reaction that made him “regret” and question his answer, He added, “I take back my answer”. And he also had a message for the Olympian. He stated, “Michael if you are watching this I am just kidding buddy.”

Though, that was not the only hostile reaction he received; fans were quick to make their reactions evident. Reflecting on the same, here are a few intriguing fan reactions:

A fan named Gregory B. Rowe II noticed how Paul was swayed by people’s reaction and demanded him to be confident in his opinion: “Have conviction p*ssy”

One fan mentioned his opinion on the question at hand. He stated, “My top overrated athletes: Lance armstrong, Tim Tebow, Goldberg, Michael Vick, Derek Jeter, Emmitt Smith, Reggie bush, Colin kaepernick”

Along similar lines, another fan named Harry proposed who he finds overrated. He stated, “It’s Ronaldo or Messi end of story. Claims he supports Liverpool as well”
