It’s no secret that Floyd Mayweather has a deep love for sports, and not just boxing. The undefeated legend is frequently seen courtside at NBA games, and late last month, he turned his attention to the WNBA. Mayweather made an appearance at Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx and the fourth-seeded Phoenix Mercury at PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

Arriving with his entourage, Mayweather took up courtside seats on the Lynx’s end of the floor. But in true ‘Money’ Mayweather fashion, the outing wasn’t just about entertainment; it was about profit. He placed a $20,000 bet on the Lynx to cover the first-quarter spread (-1 point). The Lynx delivered, winning the quarter 22–19, which reportedly earned Mayweather a cool $37,000 on the prop bet. And that’s not all he won!

Floyd Mayweather reveals a special gesture from the Phoenix Mercury

Even though Floyd Mayweather had placed a bet for the Lynx to win the first quarter, the Phoenix team wasn’t offended. They ended up winning the game 84-76, taking a 2-1 series lead. Fast forward to today, ‘Money’ Mayweather hopped on his Instagram story to share the special gesture from the Mercury. “Thank you to the Phoenix Mercury for the thoughtful gesture and custom 50-0 jersey,” he captioned the post alongside a picture.

Mayweather can be seen holding up a custom jersey from Mercury, with “50-0” written on the back, referencing his legendary undefeated boxing record. Mayweather even had his full name written across the jersey, making it truly one of a kind. And Mayweather knows that, as he added, “I truly appreciate the acknowledgment and the love! Real recognition goes a long way, and this gesture was a class act!”

Retired English boxer slams Mayweather vs. Mike Tyson

British Olympic medalist boxer Amir Khan condemned the rumored exhibition fight between Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, calling it “dangerous” for boxing. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Amir Khan expressed concern about older fighters returning to the ring against younger or mismatched opponents.

“I hate seeing older fighters who have been retired that are coming back and fighting these young guys,” Khan said. “Someone’s going to get hurt badly one day, and it’s not nice to see.” Tyson, of course, came off a lopsided defeat at the hands of Jake Paul last year. And Khan believes such bouts tarnish the sport’s image and put legends at risk.

“I want fighters to make money and avoid the same mistakes I made… and live a good life once they retire.”

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is also on the same bandwagon when it comes to these gimmick fights. “Who wants to watch a 48 Y.O Floyd Mayweather fight a 60 Y.O Mike Tyson? It’s just bull—t,” he said to the press.

Looks like Floyd Mayweather continues to be the star of the show wherever he goes. Did you like his new jersey?
