Brian Ortega was scheduled to face the Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Zung in the main event of UFC Busan. This was one of the most exciting fights in the featherweight division. After his loss to Max Holloway, Ortega took a long layoff and the fight against Korean Zombie was supposed to be his comeback to UFC.

On the other hand, Chan Sung Zung was coming off an impressive win over Renato Moicano. The winner of this fight would have been a top contender for the featherweight title. That apart this was an intriguing matchup that has generated massive buzz among the fans. Hence it is safe to say that with Ortega out of the fight, it’s a loss for both the fighters.

Although the injury is undisclosed, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani recently announced on the twitter:

“Brian Ortega is out of the Dec. 21 main event fight against Chan Sung Jung due to an undisclosed injury, according to multiple sources. More coming shortly.”

With Ortega out of the fight, UFC needs a main event for the fight card. It’s not yet confirmed whether UFC is going to replace Ortega in the main event or replace the fight with another.

As far as a replacement for the fight goes, there are not a ton of options in the division at the moment. A fight against Jeremy Stephens would be a fun one against the Korean Zombie. Although Stephens has lost his last two fights he put solid performances against two highly ranked featherweight fighters. Apart from Stephens, Frankie Edgar would be a great opponent for Chan Sung Jung.

What do you think is going to happen with the main event of UFC Busan? Who might replace Ortega in the fight?
