According to latest reports, Liverpool FC striker Rickie Lambert is the subject of a late deadline day bid from Aston Villa. The Lions have lodged a surprising £5million bid for the forward and are likely to complete the deal before the transfer window closes.

Rickie Lambert has been attracting a number of PL clubs recently, but Aston Villa is the first club to make an official offer. A bidding war might ensue if another club were to table a bid. Most clubs wanted a loan deal but the Lions are keen on a permanent one.

The former Southampton man will closely look into the possibility of departure considering his limited playing time recently. Villa have now gone without scoring for almost ten hours and Paul Lambert will be keen to solve this problem before the transfer windows closes down.

Being a childhood Liverpool fan, only the promise of regular playing time will convince him to stay put at the club.
