Crystal Palace had a really busy day today as they first bought Andy Townsend from Newcastle United then sold Dwight Gayle to them and now they have bought Steve Mandanda, the 31 year old goalie from Olymique de Marseille.
The goalkeeper won his 4th Ligue 1 goalkeeper of the year award this year and is the most decorated Ligue keeper in the last 5 years. He has also been named in the Ligue 1 team of the year on four occassions. Mandanda has the 4th highest number of saves in Ligue 1 over the last 3 seasons and also made highest no. of penalty stops (3) during that time. He has also successfully claimed more crosses than any other keeper in last four Ligue 1 seasons.
All this played a major factor as Palace went after him and struck a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee. He is currently on duty for France in Euro 2016. With talents like Mandanda and Cabaye at his disposal and a manager like Alan Pardew, Palace can easily compete for a Europa place and who knows if they can surprise the way Leceister did last season.
