Jose Aldo pulls out of UFC 250

Jose Aldo was to challenge Henry Cejudo for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. ‘The Messenger’ engaged in a war with the Brazilian on social media over the last few weeks. However, Combate revealed that Aldo will not be able to fly into the United States as his work visa has expired. He cannot apply for another one as the American Embassy is not issuing them considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘The Messenger’ may not have to wait too long to learn about his new opponent. Dominick Cruz took to Twitter and wrote, “the real king has already been told that we’re fighting May 9th. I’ll see you there.” He tagged ‘The Messenger’ and his coach Eric Albarracin in the post.

Cejudo vs Cruz set to headline the event?

‘The Messenger’ took to social media and fired a shot at Dominick Cruz on the 31st of March.

Cruz replied immediately with a taunt at ‘The Messenger’s’ diminutive figure.

He also told Ariel Helwani, “that’s what I’ve been asking for for a long time. That’s what we do this for. You slide in there and take the title shot right when it’s there. The Dominator added that Henry has a habit of saying things just to get hype, to have people talking about him.

‘The Messenger’ is yet to reply and if his exchanges with Aldo are anything to go by, fans are in for a very entertaining buildup to the event on May 9.

Do you think this is just a verbal agreement? Or will we finally see ‘The Dominator’ make his long-awaited return to The Octagon?

Both fighters certainly want it, but nothing can be considered official unless Dana White, or the UFC announces it. For now though, their hands will be full of finding a replacement to fight Jessica Andrade at UFC 249.
