The apology was not been enough to pacify certain sections. Even the donation of £25,000 was not enough to help HIM escape sanctions. The BBBofC released a statement suspending ‘Superb’s’ license. It read-

“The British Boxing Board of Control having considered comments made by Billy Joe Saunders on social media have suspended the boxer’s licence pending a hearing under the Board’s misconduct regulation, at a time and venue to be confirmed as soon as possible.”

Not the first time ‘Superb’ has been in trouble

He has a spotless 29-0 record in the ring. The same cannot be said about him while outside the ring. In September 2018, he was fined £ 100,000 after video emerged of him requesting a sex act for drugs. Earlier in March, he prank called an American Airlines claiming his friend had Coronavirus.

The self-isolation and quarantine period hs bored him. He tried to be funny and provide fans with a laugh. But he may have gone too far. The Coronavirus means that this hearing may not take place for a while. The BBBofC canceled all events in May. ‘Superb’ is all set to face a long wait to find out if the license will be restored in time for his bout against  Canelo Alvarez.
