British GP: Hamilton Responds to Ecclestone’s Suggestions of Him Being Past His Best

Lewis Hamilton has responded to the criticism from former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone. Ecclestone had claimed that the 7-time world champion Hamilton is quite the fighter he was in F1 right now.

The Mercedes driver has recently signed a new two-year deal with the German driver. But the former F1 boss believes Hamilton is making a mistake as his time in F1 is up as he is getting older.

As reported by Formula Passion, Hamilton at the press conference of the British Grand Prix hit back at the claims made by Bernie Ecclestone. He acknowledged his age and gave back to Bernie’s criticism with a fitting reply.

I didn’t know about these statements until I arrived at the circuit,” said the 7-time world champion.

Ecclestone had earlier stated in an interview that Hamilton left him disappointed by his recent performances. He had also stated that because of his age, Lewis is not the same fighter that he once was.

“I have spoken to lots of people about this and perhaps Lewis is not quite the fighter that he was,” said Ecclestone.

“There are lots of occasions this year where he could have done better and he hasn’t. He hasn’t had any competition, the equipment has always been super, and he hasn’t really had to make the effort,” said the former F1 Boss.
