Wimbledon sensation Dustin Brown, who took down Rafael Nadal at SW19, continues to make headlines after beating sixth seed Sam Querrey, the big serving American, in straight sets.
The German entered the quarter-finals of Hall of Fame Tennis Championships after beating Querrey 6-2 4-6 6-4, in a rain delayed encounter.
”This is a match that if you put seven first serves in, the match can be over,” said Brown. ”I did the normal warm up and right when I saw that the match was about to finish, I did another 20, 30 serves just so my arm was warm and ready to go straight on court.”
Brown after beating Nadal in R2 at Wimbledon, crashed out in the next round. Though he’s still having a great season after struggling early on in his career. He also broke into the top 100 of the ATP rankings, post Wimbledon.
Brown, also in news for his unusual hairstyle won the first four games, thanks to some inconsistent serving from the American. He led in the third set before rain abandoned the match, which resumed the next day. He sealed the match with some fine service games.
”Once you’re at a tournament with my looks and my hair, it’s kind of hard to hide,” said Brown. ”It’s hard to say if it’s more or less after last week at Wimbledon. I can still go to the grocery store without people(bothering)me.” he added.
Jack Sock, the man who took a set away from Nadal at this year’s Roland Garros, is the only American left in the tournament now.
