The Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War teaser is finally out and most fans are extremely excited. And why wouldn’t they be? It is quite possibly the most elaborate, tiring and time-consuming reveal a game has ever seen. Even now many aren’t sure if it was all worth it. After all, we already knew this was going to be the title long before the teaser came out.

It all started when a couple of streamers received mysterious boxes from Activision. August 10 was when they opened them and found clues that led them to a website called pawntakespawn.com. This is where they found out that the reveal would take much longer than expected. The next clue came on August 14 as the website indicated hidden clues inside the bunkers in Call of Duty Warzone.

After gathering all the 5 ciphers from the location, they found out that one clue would be revealed per day, over the next 5 days. This eventually led us to August 19 when the final clue was revealed and the teaser was finally unveiled on the website.

This whole process took around 10 days to complete. And each stream, where these influencers tried to decipher the clues, was extremely long and tiring. And in the end, all we got was some information about ‘Codename: Perseus’ and a title for the game.

But rumors regarding the title were floating around for months and it was also leaked by a Doritos packaging earlier. This makes us wonder if the entire reveal in-fact was absolutely pointless.

The developers are not to blame here at all. They did everything they could to make the process as rigorous and interesting as possible. The problem was the leaks that appeared online. All the leaks suggested that the new title would be Black Ops Cold War. Moreover, other leaks had also hinted at an August reveal and many map codenames of the game were also reportedly leaked.

Since the elaborate reveal put in place by the developers gave us no new information, people are wondering if it was utterly pointless. Take a look at this tweet below.

As for the in-game reveal, we will see it on August 26 in Verdansk, which is almost a week from now. They could’ve given the fans a little bit more and it would’ve been better (maybe). But all that is over now and all that’s left to see is what they have in store for us with the new COD title.
