Call of Duty BOCW Zombies Ammo Mods Ranked Worst To Best

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies made the title extremely popular from the day of release. The return of the fan favorite mode made it a top choice amongst most Call of Duty enthusiasts. In Black ops Cold War, Treyarch changed many aspects of the mode. One of the defining changes was removing re-pack-a-punch upgrades, similar to what we had seen in Call of Duty Black Ops III.
Treyarch did not replace it with the Alternate Ammo Types from Call of Duty Black Ops IV. Instead, it introduced a brand new system that many players find more efficient than the previous Ammo Mods. Players can now add Ammo Mods to a weapon, even if the weapon is not upgraded. Furthermore, the Ammo Mod type is not random and players can choose the type they want on their weapon. Aetherium Crystals can also upgrade the effects of these mods.

Call of Duty Zombies: Ammo Mods worst to best
- Dead Wire– What was once the best in Black Ops Cold War Zombies is now the worst mod in the game. The last patch destroyed the Dead Wire and nerfed it to the ground. The effective damage output and stun-lock both stand reduced. Therefore, there is little reason now to rock this mod in the game, except if you are facing a megaton. Even then there are mods that will adapt better to the Megaton situation than Dead Wire. The 30-second cooldown is just another annoying reason to not use this mod.
- Shatter Blast– Plainly said, Shatter Blast is only effective if armored zombies are around. The last patch also nerfed this mod, so the damage output is now less. Therefore, if you’re going after the effectiveness of the blast, use it in the later rounds.
- Napalm Burst– It is best against regular zombies, and it deals a ton of damage if upgraded. Furthermore, it is very effective against the fast-moving variant, so players can just shred through the zombies while achieving effective crowd control.
- Brain Rot– Brain Rot is best in Outbreak mode, where players face special variants more frequently than in the regular mode. The activation process of the Brain Rot might seem annoying, but overall it is best to deal with multiple specials in the same place.
- Cyrofreeze– Probably the best one in the game right now as it freezes enemies and shatters them depending upon the level. This works best with sprinters and heavy damage dealing kinds. Shotguns equipped with Cyrofreeze are the way to go.
