Call of Duty Mobile launched its 12th season today after a month long Anniversary celebrations. CODM is calling this season ‘Going Dark’ and for ample reason too. For the first time in the history of the game, we have three night maps.

Previously, Standoff-Night was the only night map, and it had come as a Halloween special. Now, we have three other maps which have ‘gone dark’: Crash-Night, Summit-Night and Hackney Yard-Night. Hackney Yard is a Modern Warfare map that CODM released with this season.

At the moment, in the night playlist, only Team Deathmatches are available to be played. The gameplay differs a lot from night maps we have seen previously in CODM. The sole reason is the addition of night-vision goggles.

All your characters will sport these goggles on the night maps. It is very amusing that there is an option to remove them in the game because technically nothing can be seen without the goggles. Nevertheless, it can be an enjoyable challenge to try to kill enemies without the goggles on.

The night maps are only available in public multiplayer and not inside the Ranked modes. Have a look at a TDM gameplay on Crash-Night below.

New Hybrid SMG in Call of Duty Mobile

This season’s battle pass offers a new weapon: AGR 556. This weapon is no stranger to the CoD franchise and is ordinarily called the AUG. Further to that, CODM players get an epic blueprint for this weapon on level 50 of the paid battle pass, the AGR Byakko.

The reason we call it a hybrid weapon is that the AGR uses 5.56 rounds. We can see this in Battle Royale matches where the AGR will equip only 5.56 ammo. Any SMG in the game will use only light rounds, and therefore this makes the AGR perform very close to an Assault Rifle. Traditionally the AUG is an AR, and we believe CODM brought about this shift because of licensing issues.

You can unlock the base version of the weapon from level 21 of the free Battle Pass. Below is the road map for this season.
