As Call of Duty Warzone nears its two month anniversary, developers are looking to add features with every passing week. The relatively new battle Royale title has captured a vast portion of market share. Consequently, Infinity Ward is striving to cope with the rising demands of their rising users. It is never easy for developers to satisfy their user base as a whole. However, Infinity Ward and Raven Software sure are trying. In an interview with GamerGen.com, developers Taylor Kurosaki and Amos Hodge, from IW and RS respectively, opened up on the whole Trios and DUos situation.
Warzone went live back in March 2020. At launch, the only way to play the Battle Royale was with the Trios mode. Soon after, though, developers discarded the mode to make way for Quads mode, where you play in a squad of four members. That move, however, miffed a majority of the user base, who did not hold back in voicing their disappointment. Surprisingly, the developers quickly jumped to action and brought back the popular mode.

When you have a user base of well over 50 million players, chances are not all of them are going to be content at all times. So when a portion of the community started calling for a Duos mode, the developers weren’t really surprised. Amos Hodge of Raven Software expressed his thoughts on the Duos mode.

“We had Duos on Plunder, but I’m not sure where Duos is, we got some bugs to work out with Duos. But we’re listening to the community. So we will get to a place where we add Duos in the future. There’s just no exact time I can give you for now, but Duos is coming. You’ve already seen in Plunder, but there are just things we gotta figure out, find the right timing and everything else.”

Those are some encouraging words for players who are desperate for the Duos mode. Hodge has more or less confirmed it will be a reality soon enough.
Infinity Ward’s narrative director too talked about the mode, explaining it is never an easy task to cater to users, but they like trying anyway.
“When you add Quads, people are like “Where are the Trios?” And then you go to Trios and they go “Where are the Quads?” Everyone wants to play the game in a slightly different way, which is really cool and exciting, so we’re trying to figure out what the standard modes are, and what are the modes that work better as sort of a short time, mixing it up kind of situation.”
