Activision recently rolled out the Season 6 update for Call of Duty Warzone. Additionally, apart from the maps, modes, characters, and battle pass additions, there were some balances too. Patch 1.27 introduced a variety of weapon changes, one of which was the shotgun slug buff.

For the unaware, the slug is a shotgun attachment that increases the pellet damage of the gun. However, the attachment also decreases the pellet amount on the bullets. Therefore, one would expect the gun to be accurate at 10-15 meters. However, a Warzone streamer took to Twitter to brag about a recent shotgun kill. His clip clearly shows that the buff has made the shotgun way too strong.

Call of Duty Warzone shotguns are broken with slugs

DougisRaw is a popular Twitch streamer who streams Warzone content. In one of his recent streams, he was on top of a tower in the Verdansk airport. He spotted an enemy about 40 meters away, camping behind a shed. He challenged the enemy with a shotgun from the distance.

Since the enemy was exploiting the head glitch, only his head was visible when he peeked. After missing the first two shots, Doug connected the third shot, and the enemy died with a single bullet. He was surprised to see the shotgun do such high damage from such a long range.

With the pellets reduced, the shotgun can deal higher damage at close range. However, due to a lower spread, even with down sight aim, 40 meters is too far for the shotgun to be accurate. Whether there were other reasons contributing to the one shot one kill, pure luck, or the broken shotgun is unclear.

Regardless, the season 6 update does have a lot of bugs and this might just be one of them. Players have been constantly sending feedback to Activision and Infinity Ward to take notice of and fix them. However, if there is the slightest chance that this was intentional, the shotguns are going to take over the meta.
