As we speak about Emma Raducanu and have reached the final stages of the 2021 season, let’s look at the possibility of her making it to the season-ending WTA Finals in Mexico. It is possible that Raducanu could climb in rankings over the next few weeks.

Emma Raducanu faces less pressure at Indian Wells

What Emma has working in her favour at Indian Wells is that other players need to put in solid performances at Indian Wells, or they risk falling down in the rankings. For example, Bianca Andreescu, the defending champion at Indian Wells from 2019, will lose a major chunk of points if she fails to go deep in the event. Besides, Angelique Kerber also has quite a few points to defend as she was the runner-up in 2019.

With a lot of potential movement, Raducanu could provisionally be into the top 20 before Indian Wells even before it starts. And as the competition is a WTA 1000 event, there are plenty of points for her to grab if she can manage a deep-run.

Both Barty and Osaka, who are in the top-10 may miss the finals, which could open up chances for two more players to compete in Mexico. If Raducanu were to win Indian Wells, she would move to 3282 points, which would be good enough for fifth place in the Race to the WTA Finals rankings.

Things are falling into place for Emma who wouldn’t have pictured all these things unfolding in front of her. Her sheer dedication and hard work are certainly paying off. Even when she competes, not many players are aware of the different tactics she could apply during the matches.

Tennis fans are in for a treat as the race for the WTA Finals intensifies. Hopefully, Raducanu will be a mainstay in that competition for years to come.
