Usain Bolt named Trayvon Bromell and Ronnie Baker to seal two out of the three podium spots. Bromell and Ronnie are two of the fastest sprinters in the world right now, while Bromell has the world lead time of 9.77 seconds, Ronnie got one over his compatriot at the Monaco Diamond League a few weeks before the Olympics. There Ronnie was first with Bromell in fifth.

Since Bolt emerged in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, USA has had a tough time breaking his juggernaut. Since 2004, the USA hasn’t seen a 100 meter or a 200 meter champion in men’s. The last person to have won the gold in these disciplines was Justin Gatlin. But now Bolt predicts much happier scenes for USA in the sprints. With not much challenge it is likely the American sprinters will fight among themselves for the gold.

“It’s been a while since the U.S has been at the top of the podium at the Olympics, quite a long time, so that’s going to be a return for them for what they’re used to,” Bolt added.

USA has such a strong roster in 100m and 200m that they could seal all the three podium places. The 100m has Trayvon Bromell, Ronnie Baker, and Fred Kerley. Kerley is not far behind his compatriot and if he has a good race, he is capable of getting a medal. Moreover, in 200m there is the world champion, Noah Lyles who is primed for the gold. And alongside him is 17-year-old sensation, Erriyon Knighton and Kenny Bednarek, both of whom have their times well inside the top 5 leading times in 2021.
