Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony became the reason for a smile on a mother’s face.
After the Trail Blazers’ last game against Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony was seen talking about gifting the car.
“We partnered up and gave a car for the Holidays. We surprised a family who really needed it, and we made somebody’s holiday. We made a family happy, made some wishes come true. It’s a great feeling when you can do something like that and help a family out. It always put things in perspective when you see the impact that has on people.”
Anthony and his business partner in his company Melo7 came out with a new startup, Getacar- an online car-buying platform.
Taking pride in his latest business venture, Anthony said, “Gettacar stepped up to the challenge and they delivered.”
As per NBC Sports, Carmelo Anthony gifted a 2017 Mazda CX3 to a woman named Shalita Addison on Wednesday.
The woman was reported to have been struggling for commute after a recent car break-down. She is a big fan of Carmelo Anthony and her daughter is a college basketball player.
Shalita told Baltimore’s WMAR 2 News how grateful she was to be gifted a car and her daughter playing college Basketball.
“I’m so grateful. Sometimes you don’t think that prayer works, but raising her and then she gets a D1 scholarship, just the odds of that are just like, you know what I mean? It makes you just keep pursuing your dreams and sometimes everything doesn’t workout, but like they always will.”
It is that time of the year when Basketball fans are looking forward to the NBA All-Star games. Over his long and illustrious career, Melo has been an NBA All-Star on 10 occasions. In the recently released vote count after the second round of 2020 NBA All-Star voting, Carmelo once again found a place, and quite unsurprisingly too given his popularity in the league over the years.
