Joe Egan accepts the challenge

Earlier this week, Egan, who starred in Sherlock Homes declared that he’s looking to enter the ring for his “last hurrah,” and this is a comeback after 20 years. He was recorded saying, “Hello everyone. I have one last hurrah in me. I haven’t fought in over 20 years.” To make a grand comeback, he sought the help of Mike Tyson. Using Fury’s earlier callout for Tyson as an opponent, Egan positioned himself as a proxy for his former sparring partner. In a video posted on his Instagram, Egan notes, “John Fury, I haven’t challenged you, I have accepted your challenge. You throw around a challenge to Mike Tyson, the only 58-year-old on the planet that’s game enough to get into the ring and box you. I’m game enough to get into the ring and box you John. Throwing tables to air and your YouTubers, doesn’t make you macho. Get into the ring, and exchange punches, when I am Mike’s ex sparring partner. Talk the talk, now walk the walk.”

Tyson doubled these efforts. He noted, “John Fury, you got my friend Joe Egan really mad at you, saying you want to fight me. And he also told me that you told Russel Crowe that he was a fraud. So, Joe Egan’s looking for John Fury, okay? And if I am able to see that fight happen, hope, it’s not in England, because I’m a Felon and I can’t go to England. But he’s coming for you John Fury, for my honor.”

While Mike Tyson and Joe Egan hold some massive stakes in getting the fight rolling, there’s someone else who’s also rooting for this bout to happen.
