The lighter-weight division delves into the question “Who will fight whom?” Devin Haney is a huge part of this discourse. While a key opponent for him emerged on the horizon, his father, Bill Haney drew up a list of other potential fighters that his son could collide with. One among them was Keith Thurman. ‘One Time,’ however, was not up for the fight, and lashed out at Senior Haney on a few occasions. One such outburst has sparked a response from the trainer-father of Devin Haney.
Currently, Devin Haney’s team is in negotiations with his counterpart, Ryan Garcia’s clan, to get a fight between them rolling. However, right before that, Haney was in a fix with a previous attempt at getting the Garcia fight collapsed, and he wanted to book another opponent at the earliest. While Haney’s father, Bill, suggested Thurman for the deed, the latter did not have it. Now, in a spike of these hostile developments, Bill Haney has sent some lethal threats in his signature.

“Knock it off,” says Bill Haney to Keith Thurman
At the moment, the Florida-based fighter remains engrossed in preparations for his 30th March fight against Tim Tszyu. While he did that, he was roped in by Fight Hub TV for a quick conversation. In it, he was almost asked about something Bill Haney had earlier suggested, but he stopped the interviewer midway right after hearing Senior’s name. He noted, “Who cares about Bill Haney Bill Haney talks to everybody. Bet Bill Hy called your mama. Okay, nobody curious about Bill’s this and that. He’s the Energizer Bunny pumping his son up, a tremendous athlete in sport of boxing.”
Giving his take on that very bit, Bill on his X posted a video. In it, he says, “Huh?! Keith Thurman if you don’t knock it off, I told you my son was gonna batter your face in if we had made the fight. And you talking about don’t nobody wanna hear from me? The last we seen, you, you had Nipsey Hustle braids, your hair was longer than mine. You showed back up with the half moon, blew back like a rag 58.” He also has a suggestion to his son’s counterpart. He remarked, “But, Keith ‘one time’ Thurman, while you got some business at hand, concentrate on Tim Tszu.”

Keith Thurman, in his conversation with the media, had also revealed that he has not heard from Haney’s team, making folks wonder if the two fighters will ever face off.

‘The Dream’ vs. ‘One Time’
Thurman, 30-1, a noted welterweight fighter, commented on the possibilities of Haney moving up to 147. Fans have rallied him to fight Jaron Ennis at that weight. Furthermore, if that fight happens, most also assume that Thurman will be his next goal. To these expectations, Thurman answers with a pro tip. “Just take your time and continue to grow your career. If it ever lines up, it lines up. You don’t hurt nobody,”
He further notes, “He’s the definition of boxing. ‘Hit and don’t get hit.’ There’s nothing wrong with that.” “Besides, I’m probably going to fall asleep next time I try to watch that stuff,” said Thurman, “making it clear that he thinks Haney is a boring fighter.”
