Boxing fans will be treated to an unusual but entertaining fight in October. Tyson Fury will be going head-to-head against ex-UFC champion Francis Nagannou in what is going to be one of the biggest crossover fighting events. After a long time, the two fighters will be stepping inside the ring, given the two have faced quite a bit of challenge in securing fights this year.
Earlier, Francis Ngannou failed to get his contract with UFC renewed after his relationship with the president of the organization, Dana White deteriorated. The core of this fallout stems from the fact that the UFC does not allow its fighters to explore anything outside of the organization unless permission is sought. In need of some autonomy and a better deal to explore his full potential, he signed a contract with the PFL. Moreover, the organization does not have a problem with him fighting Tyson Fury, The ‘Gypsy King’.
In the case of Fury, he last fought against Derek Chisora in December last year. Since then, Fury had not been able to secure a deal for his next fight. Fans awaited the announcement of him fighting either Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk, but both fights have reportedly collapsed. Many claimed that these fights fell flat because of Fury’s hesitance to trade blows with them inside the ring for one reason or the other. His promoter however has finally broken his silence on the same.

Tyson Fury did not duck Oleksandr Fury or Anthony Joshua, according to Frank Warren
In an interview with Gareth A Davis, promoter, Frank Warren has gone on the record to clarify the reasons behind Fury not fighting Usyk or AJ.
It has indeed been very chaotic and confusing when it came to Fury negotiating a contract with Usyk or AJ. There seemed to be a lot of court politicking that prevented the fights from happening. Moreover, the interviewer called the scenario a ‘Game of Thrones’ situation.
Davis asked: “Can you categorically say then it is not Tyson Fury fighting these other guys – Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua? Can you explain the Game of Thrones that is going on right now?”
Frank claimed that his team had not received a legitimate or written offer from any of these guys. He insinuated that the reports on these fights were pure speculation. The promoter spoke further about his team reaching out to Usyk.

Frank said, “In the meantime, we made offers, written offers to Joshua, and we made offers to Usyk. He accepted it and changed his mind once the skill challenge gave him this December situation. He pulled out of it. That’s it.”
A novel set of rules for the Fury vs Ngannou Clash
Francis Ngannou will clash against Tyson Fury in a match that will not see the latter put his titles on the line. However, it will also not be an exhibition fight. It will be under the rules of a championship bout and allow knockouts. There will be 10 rounds of 2 minutes each with three judges sitting to score the fighters.

Earlier it was also reported that there is a rematch clause added in the fight’s deal. In an interview, ‘The Predator’ confirmed that clause has been added. Further explaining the rules of the rematch clause, Ngannou added, “For (if I win). (If he beats me), that’s what I don’t know. We will see how it goes. That’s why I have to win this fight. I have to do everything to get that rematch.”
This fight will be an interesting one to watch despite a significant section of the boxing community, not in agreement with the matchup. There might be no championship titles on the line, but the financial incentives are huge for both fighters to ignore. And this match is definitely about the riches both Fury and Ngannou will take home. The two will enter the ring on the 28th of October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
