Recently, Oscar De La Hoya‘s interest was piqued by Muhammad Ali‘s initial loss in his professional boxing career. The CEO of Golden Boy Boxing recently utilized platform X to inquire about the identity of the boxer responsible for dealing with Ali in his inaugural defeat. Well, to answer De La Hoya’s question, it was Joe Frazier in 1971 who handed Ali his first pro defeat in boxing. Ahead of the bout, Ali claimed “Frazier will be easier than Quarry or Bonavena”. In fact, ‘The Double Greatest’, declared that he would hold Frazier’s “head” and “just play with him”.

In addition, to borrow Frazier’s own phrase, in ” a broad statement,” Ali believed that Frazier would not reach him with his “short hooks”. However, Frazier claimed that he “fought big guys before” including “movers”. Along these lines, he mentioned that he would get the job done within 10 rounds of the fight.
