Humbled by His Brutal Loss, Ohara Davies Tries to Reconcile With Boxing Legend and Creed Star After Long-Standing Beef

Defeat, they say, is a great leveler. For it dawns even upon the mightiest that there’s someone, somewhere, better. A boxer who has suffered a loss goes through a tumultuous cacophony of emotions. Ohara Davies, undeniably, would have been going through that frame of mind.

The British boxer suffered his third defeat at the hands of Ismael Barroso on the Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Fredrick Lawson main card. As he mulls over his career, the 31-year-old Londoner spared some time to reflect on the past. Probably he wanted to make amends for some of those things, for all that they stood, and move on. In one of his first acts, he called out a bête noire with whom he has been having a running feud for some time now.

Let’s change for good: Ohara Davies

Ohara Davies tweeted early today. So he wrote about how he used to slam Tony Bellew. He did all he could to hassle the former cruiserweight champion. However, now he suffers a reversal of fortune. So the boxing legend, who received rave views for his role as ‘Pretty’ Rocky Conlan‘ in the ‘Creed’ series, can proceed to lambast him with whatever words he deems suitable. But, so far, the ‘Bomber’ has yet to proceed in that direction.

Hence, Davies expressed his desire to reciprocate. He mentioned that he won’t be talking trash about Tony Bellew anymore. He said, “I’ve called Tony Bellew enough names to provoke him; he has the opportunity now to call me whatever he likes after last night but refuses to. I’ve got to not let a negative word about the man come out of my mouth again.”

It appears to have been going on for some time. However, the online spat between Ohara Davies and Tony Bellew took a flowery turn last year. Alongside, Daniel Dubois, the former cruiserweight champion, reportedly referred to ‘Two Tanks’ as a quitter.

The Match: ‘Two Tanks’ and a ‘Bomber’

It seems the ‘Bomber’ cited the way Davies lost the match to future undisputed champion Josh Taylor back in 2017 which initiated a thread of back-and-forth on Twitter. So in September, Bellew gave his two cents on the Chris Eubank Jr. versus Liam Smith rematch, suggesting that the latter was a mere shadow of the boxer he used to be.

However, Davies took umbrage at Bellew for not crediting Eubank Jr. for his win. He cited the instance when the ‘Bomber’ rejoiced after defeating David Haye. But the ‘Creed’ star stood his ground and replied back, “Once again, quitter, you couldn’t be more wrong! Watch the fight back, and look what I done after the first fight with David! I went over to him, stopped my promoter celebrating, and helped him walk back to his corner! I then dealt with a fully fit version of him in rematch!”

Thus, the to-and-fro between the two continued, with Davies wishing Bellew were in his weight category. Then he would have meted out a similar treatment that he received from
