It is not unusual for sports stars to go on the record about their political inclinations and choices. Especially for someone like Rollie Romero. A lot of times they have gotten into trouble for being candid about such political opinions. However, in recent times, most sports personalities refuse to comment on political subjects in public discourses given the ramifications that could have on their reputation.

Guns laws are a highly contested topic in the United States. While most Blue states implement rigorous regulations on the ownership of guns by common folks, the Red states have enabled easier access to the arms. As more celebrities choose to remain quiet on this topic, Rolly has broken his silence and taken a stand while responding to a question regarding fellow compatriot Devin Haney’s arrest.

Rollie Romero says he is pro-gun, shocked at Haney’s arrest

In one of his recent videos, Rolando Romero was puzzled after knowing that Devin Haney was arrested. When a person in the video asked Rolly if he knew about the arrest, the latter stated that he was unaware.

Romero was shocked to know that Davin Haney was arrested for having a gun. He also confirmed that he is pro-gun. He said, “I am pro-gun. I am pro-gun as f**k so.” Further, he suggested that ‘The Dream’ should have stayed in states that are gun-friendly.

“Should have been in Texas, Even Nevada,” Rolly said.

Cops found a semi-automatic gun under the driver’s seat in Devin Haney’s car. The lightweight boxing champion was not at the wheel, and his driver reportedly confirmed the presence of the firearm. ‘The Dream’ was taken into custody and later released. He posted a $35,000 bail. The 24-year-old fighter will appear in court next month. The State of California has strict gun laws and does allow folks to drive a car with a gun in it without proper permits.

Romero was ordered by the WBA to defend his title

Earlier this week, the WBA called on Rollie Romero to defend his WBA super lightweight title against O’Hara Davies. The body asked the world title holder to enter the ring on the 24th of July in Panama. The WBA also issued a clarification on the purse bid for the bout. It stated, “The minimum amount to win the rights to promote the fight is US $ 110,000.00 while the purse split will be 75% for the champion Romero and the remaining 25% will go to the challenger Davies.

On May 13th, Romero emerged victorious against Ismael Barroso to pick up the vacant WBA title for himself. However, the bout was mired in controversy. Its referee, Tony Weeks received a lot of criticism for his controversial halting of the contest in the 9th round. 40-year-old Barraso fared well in the clash and was even leading in the judges’ scorecards. Barrosa even scored an early KO in the third round.  However, as fate would have it, Romero was crowned the victor.
