It has been months now since David Benavidez expressed an interest in fighting Canelo Álvarez. Though he was not the only boxer dying to secure a match with the undisputed champion, one could say he was a consistent one. However, owing to disinterest from Alvarez’s side, Benavidez, who has been a mandatory challenger for almost a year now, has started eyeing other opponents now. Jermall Charlo is also in the equation. But would Alvarez entertain that fight?

IBHOF Elector predicts Canelo will fight another opponent in September
Glaser took to X to give his financial prediction over the rumored Charlo vs. Alvarez fight. According to the Elector, the fight will not flop. He wrote, “Here’s a prediction, Canelo vs Jermall Charlo May 4 won’t flop on PPV because Canelo doesn’t flop,” giving the credit for the success of the fight to Canelo’s already huge popularity. However, he proceeded to say how the fight would only make as much as his guaranteed purse and no more.

He added, “It won’t do enough buys for Canelo to earn anymore than his guaranteed purse, not enough to have his upside kick in.” According to Glaser, Alvarez would then have to take a fight in September to make up for the purse.
Glaser further mentioned how this reason is why Canelo will decide who he fights in September. He makes it clear that it will not be David Benavidez, even though the latter has been behind Alvarez’s tail for long. But Charlo does have a better record than Benavidez, but is Charlo the only one Alvarez will potentially fight against? Let’s find out.
