Where does one draw the line when it comes to extreme publicity stunts? Daniella Hemsley, the OnlyFans model and boxer surprised followers by baring her breasts after triumphing over Ms Danielka via a unanimous decision in the Kingpyn crossover boxing event’s losers bracket in Dublin, Ireland. Naturally, many boxers such as Claressa Shields and even promoters like Eddie Hearn have criticized this act, considering it a lewd attempt at marketing. Moreover, this will have an adverse effect on female boxing.
Tony Jeffries, the former Olympic bronze medalist who has a huge following on X, owing to his informational boxing content has taken up the issue in his most recent post. In fact, he has also offered alternatives that the OnlyFans model could have used instead for publicity.

Tony Jeffries thrashes Daniella Hamsley for disgracing boxing
As a former successful boxer, his perspective on fighters marketing themselves is crucial. Witnessing Hemsley’s bold move post-fight, initially, he thought it could bring her recognition worldwide, creating a lasting impact in boxing highlights. However, reality struck, and he reconsidered, realizing the inappropriateness, especially for families in the crowd. Reflecting on the situation, he envisioned the outrage if a male boxer exposed himself.
“If I was in the crowd with my daughters and this happened, I would be disgusted.” The publicity this video garnered is undeniable, but it raises concerns about its impact on female boxing and the overall image of the sport, echoing sentiments expressed by Eddie Hearn as well. With boxers like KSI and Paul brothers doing a good job when it comes to garnering attention for boxing, incidents like these overshadow the positive attempts.

Comparing Hemsley’s approach to Ebanie Bridges, who effectively uses her image without crossing boundaries, he suggested alternative marketing tactics. “She is not doing anything that I wouldn’t let my kids view but at the same time, she getting all of this attention which is helping her build her brand generate more revenue from the sport she is in”. Instead of going topless, Jeffries suggested she could have worn provocative attire, engaged in poses, and captured attention without compromising the sport’s integrity. Let us see what Hearn and Bridges have to say about it.

Eddie Hearn and Ebanie Bridges have contrasting opinions on the matter
Hearn, the prominent Matchroom boxing promoter, expressed strong disapproval of 22-year-old Hemsley’s post-exhibition display, deeming it disrespectful to the sport. Hearn voiced his disdain, emphasizing the hard-earned respect women in boxing have gained for their skills and dedication. He insisted that such actions, have no place in boxing and should be unequivocally distanced from the professional realm.
Notably, both Hearn and Claressa Shields criticized Hemsley, labeling her stunt as “bad for boxing”. However, Bridges, another boxer with an OnlyFans presence, offered a different perspective. “I get why she’s done it… she’s an ‘influencer’ it’s all about views & she knows it would break the internet”. She acknowledged the controversy while asserting her personal choice against such tactics.
