On February 8, Keyshawn Davis and Jose Pedraza are set to clash at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, with Teofimo Lopez vs. Jamaine Ortiz as the main event. The lightweight bout between Davis (9-0, 6 KOs) and Pedraza (29-5-1, 14 KOs) serves as the co-feature. In Davis’ previous match against Nahir Albright last November, the fight initially ended in a majority decision but was later declared a No Contest by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation due to Davis testing positive for marijuana.

This comeback is personal for the fighter. Pedraza as well, is looking to bounce back from a recent loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. in February 2023. He aims to return to the winning column in this upcoming bout.

With a height of 5’9 or 175 cm, Davis, the 24-year-old boxer has a reach of 70 inches or 178 cm.  In the span of two years and seven months in the professional boxing arena, Davis has participated in 10 bouts, emerging victorious in 9, with no losses and 1 no-contest. Presently, Davis has a  remarkable 66.7% knockout-to-fight ratio, having secured six knockout wins out of his total 10 fights. While he fights in the lightweight division, the weigh-ins will reveal whether he qualifies this time or not.

Pedraza stands at 5’8 or 173 cm, slightly less than Davis with a reach of 70.5 inches or 179 cm. The boxer weighs 139.8 pounds. After nearly 12 years in the professional boxing scene, José Pedraza has participated in 35 bouts, securing 29 victories, enduring 5 losses, and settling for 1 draw. His current boxing record  showcases notable achievements like two world title triumphs and two successful defense in the super-featherweight division. With a knockout-to-fight ratio of 48.28%, Pedraza has clinched 14 knockout victories out of his total 35 fights. Notably, his sole knockout defeat occurred in the 7th round of a super-featherweight title bout against Gervonta Davis.  Now, let us look at some interesting facts about the two.

Davis, an accomplished amateur boxer, dominated the Junior and Youth levels, securing numerous titles, including victories at the Golden Gloves and U.S. National championships in 2017 and a repeat in 2018. Despite his domestic success, he faced setbacks on the international stage, losing four times to amateur nemesis Cuban boxer Andy Cruz. Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, by his mother, Davis embarked on his boxing journey at the age of 9. Inspired by Muhammad Ali and paying homage to Norfolk’s own Pernell Whitaker, Davis, alongside his brother, excelled in various sports before focusing on his boxing career.

Pedraza announced his decision to turn professional on January 3, 2011. A week later, he formalized his commitment by signing contracts with three promoters: Universal Promotions of Puerto Rico, Gary Shaw Productions, and DiBella Entertainment. His debut, slated for February 18, 2011, featured a match against Felix Rivera, a fellow debutant with an amateur record of 68–5. Pedraza secured a first-round technical knockout victory with a powerful combination to the head and body. Now he waits to add Davis to the list as well.
