Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning undisputed heavyweight champion, consistently dazzles boxing fans with his performances. His spot in the pound-for-pound rankings speaks volumes about his boxing acumen. Soon, he’ll lock horns with Tyson Fury, this coming February. Interestingly, both champions boast unblemished records. Fury stands tall at 34-0-1, while Usyk isn’t far behind at 21-0-0. As Fury aptly puts it, their impending clash is “a fight for the ages.” The stakes? Monumental.
The victor in their February 8 match in Riyadh will wear the crown of the unified heavyweight champion, while the defeated will face the bitter taste of his inaugural career defeat. Though as of now, there is no clear victor between the two, here’s what the former unified heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, had to say about the upcoming showdown.

Lennox Lewis’s word of caution for Tyson Fury
In a recent discussion with Fight Hub TV, boxing icon Lennox Lewis delved into the anticipated match between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. When asked about the stylistic comparison, given Usyk’s smaller stature in the heavyweight category, Lewis shared insightful observations. “For me, I don’t think Tyson has to move around that much,” Lewis remarked. He emphasized that Usyk, as the smaller contender, would likely be the one employing extensive footwork. Lewis highlighted, “Usyk has to move around a lot and he’s gonna be using the ring up and he’s gonna be in and out.”
Recognizing Usyk’s status as the undisputed champion, Lewis underscored his resilience, stating, “He hasn’t lost, so you can never take your glove away from him. You always have to say- this man is a survivor, he’s a winner, and he hates to lose. He’s not gonna be no easy fight for Tyson Fury- you have to remember this guy’s a undisputed champion and he doesn’t like to lose.”
Further, Lewis expressed skepticism about the fight evolving into a trilogy, he doesn’t believe that this fight would lead to two more. Nonetheless, Usyk’s preparation is in full swing and he even has the blessing of Anthony Joshua’s ex-coach.
Anthony Joshua’s ex-trainer wants Oleksandr Usyk to dish out punishment
As Tyson Fury gears up to face Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 in Saudi Arabia, there’s talk about his previous fight. Fury narrowly defeated Francis Ngannou, a former UFC champ, in a fight that left many questioning his commitment to boxing.

Robert Garcia, a former trainer of Anthony Joshua, expressed disappointment in Fury’s last bout. Garcia stated, “I would like Usyk to put a beating on him just because of his last performance.” He believes Fury took Ngannou too lightly, stating, “I think he disrespected boxing. Fury was totally out of shape.”

Garcia is rooting for Usyk but acknowledges Fury’s prowess, saying, “He disrespected boxing so I would love Usyk to slap him around, but if Fury’s in shape, it’s a difficult fight. He uses his weight, his tricks, he pushes, he does so many things that make him so effective that if he’s in great shape, I pick him to beat Usyk, but I would like to see the opposite.”
The boxing world awaits the showdown, wondering if Fury can redeem himself or if Usyk will seize the moment. What do you think about the highly anticipated showdown? Do share your thoughts in the comments below.
