Kenny Porter has revealed the name that is at the same level as Terence Crawford is currently in the sport. As per Porter, there have been a number of great fighters at 147 including the likes of Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya. However, Porter feels there is only one name that would have potentially given ‘Bud’ a run for his money.
In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, on being asked for his opinion about Crawford, Porter went back and looked over “some of the other fighters“. In this process, besides De La Hoya and Trinidad, he touched upon the likes of Hopkins, Hearns, Hagler, and even Leonard. He then called a former unified Welterweight champion the only person capable of putting Crawford in a fix.

Not Leonard, Duran, Hearns, or Hagler, Floyd Mayweather claimed to be at the same level as Terence Crawford
Kenny Porter is of the opinion, that “in recent memories,” Floyd Mayweather was at the same level as Terence Crawford is now in professional boxing. Although there are a lot of great fighters whom Porter does not want to take anything away from, he believes Mayweather simply stands out the way Crawford does currently. In fact, to borrow Porter’s own words, Mayweather “would have given that guy [Terence Crawford] a run for money“.

“In recent memories, the only guy that I see was at that level or better is Mayweather. That’s in recent memory for me,” announced Kenny Porter. Along these lines, Porter mentioned the names of certain “great” and “unbelievable fighters“. “There were a lot of great fighters, Trinidads, De La Hoyas, Hopkins, all of these guys. Not to take anything away from Sugar Ray Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Hagler – unbelievable fighters. But in recent memory, the only guy that I think stands out like him is Floyd,” he added.
