The upcoming major boxing event in Saudi Arabia promises excitement for fans. However, it appears to serve as a precursor to the highly anticipated main event in March 2024. The one featuring Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Both heavyweight fighters are already looking ahead to their clash, provided they secure victories in their current bouts. Wilder is set to face Joseph Parker, the former WBO heavyweight title holder.

Wilder has expressed his intentions to secure a knockout victory against Parker when the two former world champions face off on the ‘Day of Reckoning.’ His trainer, Malik Scott is just as confident.

What does Malik Scott think is the greatest advantage for Deontay Wilder?

Fans recognize Wilder as the most powerful puncher in the heavyweight division, maintaining an impressive knockout record throughout his career. Despite losing his WBC title to Tyson Fury, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is one of the most captivating fighters in the sport. He is ready to showcase his remarkable one-punch power to dazzle fans in his upcoming bouts. According to Scott, his mental strength also deserves credit.

“Somebody that’s as mentally strong as Deontay….once his mentality change and he becomes a bit more seasoned like he is now, then the physical is the easy part,” said Scott in an interview with the Boxing Social. The trainer did not only focus on the physical aspect of boxing. He paid just as much attention to making Wilder mentally strong.

According to Scott, Wilder is in a much-liberated form now with a lot more movement without compromising on the power. This leaves Parker with very few options. “There’s nothing they can do. They’re just in there. When he’s on point and he’s zoned in and locked in, they’re just in there. There’s nothing they can do with him,” Scott added.

How has Joseph Parker been preparing?

Parker underwent an intense training period in Ireland and Morecambe, England. This was alongside his close confidant, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and under the guidance of coach Andy Lee, who played a pivotal role in Fury’s victory over Deontay Wilder. Lee and Fury are cousins. Despite this, Parker has seamlessly integrated into their close-knit circle and has been considered an honorary member of ‘The Gypsy King’s’ inner circle.

Having spent a significant portion of the past two years in Morecambe, Parker, Fury, and Lee collaborated once again to strategize and formulate a plan to overcome the formidable challenge posed by the hard-hitting American, Wilder. “We’re getting good advice from Tyson. He’s the only man who’s been in the ring with him three times and beaten him twice,” said Parker in his interview with ESPN.
