Devin Haney is on Cloud 9. The superlative victory over Regis Prograis was a statement that has set him apart from other champions. Soon, the 25-year-old former undisputed champion will embark on a new campaign, hunting down another champion, probably in the current division or one above.
But, in the meantime, celebration is in the air. Through his Instagram account, he shared a couple of pictures taken after the fight. A few appear to have been taken at his residence as well. He wrote, “Pt2 Dump.” The post has already received over 71,000 likes. The number of comments also appears to be increasing by the hour.

‘The Dream’ must press on
The general mood of jubilation and excitement seems to prevail among all the followers. Most joined the new WBC light welterweight champion in his moment of happiness. But it doesn’t mean the regular Devin Haney baiters considered taking a leave of absence.

According to the following fan, Devin Haney is trying to square up against almost anyone who crosses his path. At such a young age, what he is doing should motivate others his age so that they also step up their game: “The guys trying to fight everyone and anyone. At such a young age, hopefully what you are doing inspires more people to chase greatness so young and early in their careers. You are moving like no one before you. Great performance, champ.”
Then this fan told Devin Haney not to get bothered by hatemongers: “Haters been talking crazy about you, king; let them hate.” Then the next follower stated there’s no one who is currently able to defeat Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney: “Ain’t nobody whooping Devin The Dream Haney, Bruhh.” Another follower, while congratulating Haney, said that just like what he did to Prograis, they are eagerly waiting for him to mete out a similar treatment to Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez: “Congratulations, can’t wait for you to do Teo and Ryan the same, @realdevinhaney.”
Finally, this fan lauded Devin Haney for a flawless win. They mentioned that there are still a few who are unwilling to recognize his accomplishments. But despite that, he has to keep going: “Perfect win, and they still counting you out. Keep going, champ; we know you the best. They can’t denied greatness; we see the hunger; you still getting better.”
With the latest triumph, multiple doors have opened up for Haney. More so, given his youth, he can always take calculated risks that might catapult his name into boxing history forever.

Devin Haney towards uncharted territories
The light welterweight division is currently bristling with unbounded talents. On one hand, there’s the WBA and Ring Champion Teofimo Lopez. Then there is the IBF title holder, Subriel Matias. Ryan Garcia’s stock has grown with his commanding victory over Oscar Duarte on December 2. But probably the match everyone wants to see would be a fight against ‘Tank’. However, the Baltimorean seemingly remains adamant on staying at 135 pounds. Hence, it remains to be seen if Haney would be willing to go down just to face him.
Likewise, there’s also a possibility of ‘The Dream’ moving to the welterweight division. But with Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., and Jaron Ennis still cracking the whip, it’s a big question whether young Haney would be able to wriggle a space for himself.
