WBC Champion of Hope awardee, Billy Dib, was introduced, accompanied by a brief video highlighting his resilient spirit. WBC President Sulaiman, reaching out to Dib after the diagnosis, urged him to attend this year’s convention to receive a belt from the WBC—an aspiration Dib was resolute in fulfilling during his battle with cancer.
Expressing gratitude to Sulaiman for the convention invitation, Dib concluded with an uplifting remark on his cancer journey: “Only spend time with people you value because time is something you’ll never get back.”

Dib’s Battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Dib, diagnosed with aggressive non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last year with a grim prognosis of six months to live, defied the odds and triumphed over cancer, achieving remission. Understandably, while achieving championship victories required overcoming significant challenges, Dib reveals that cancer was an opponent like no other.
Dib openly acknowledges feeling fear both for himself and his family during his illness. Reflecting on that challenging period, he shares, “It was tough for [my family], but even more challenging for me because, with each hospital visit, I would think that it might be the last time I see them.” After enduring a rigorous six-month treatment regimen, Dib received the encouraging news that he was officially cancer-free.
