In the resurfaced interview, Jason Lee discussed McGregor’s over-the-top behavior prior to their bout. He pointed out how, as fans’ emotions rode high, people even tried to scrape Mayweather’s Rolls Royce worth $400,000.

Reflecting on the incidents, Mayweather conveyed his belief that everyone encounters challenges specific to their circumstances. He recognized that such incidents were inevitable, given his high-profile status. However, Mayweather emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and focus amidst provocation, both inside and outside the ring. As he stated, it is crucial to stay relaxed, composed, and committed to the task at hand, regardless of external pressures. He stated, “Those things happen. You know I feel like we all put in certain positions for certain reasons. Those things will happen.”

Nonetheless, he highlighted his commitment to maintaining restraint, realizing that he also has the potential to say things he shouldn’t. In Mayweather’s words, “Sometimes when you sign up for certain things people can go over the top. But that doesn’t mean I’m gonna go over the top. Because sometimes I can say things that I shouldn’t say.” Mayweather seemed very understanding about the situation considering how it had definitely put him in a potentially dangerous situation at the time.

Chael Sonnen on why the bout never received a sequel

Recently, in a video shared by Comedy Shorts, ‘The American Gangster’ Chael Sonnen talked with comedian Andrew Schulz about why the rematch for Mayweather-McGregor never materialized. Sonnen complimented both fighters for putting on a great fight. He stated that the promoters had an excellent opportunity to organize a rematch. Sonnen stated, “They had both the fires, which generally is the hardest thing that you’ve got right…”

Sonnen compared this situation to the failed Jon Jones versus Francis Ngannou fight. In contrast, the McGregor – Mayweather bout was different. Given their match’s circumstances, a second edition would have fared better. However, Sonnen expressed disappointment in the actual outcome of “The Money Fight.” Despite the hype, he claimed it performed poorly in terms of sales. Additionally, he pointed out that there was no official confirmation of the reported pay-per-view numbers.
