While Francis Ngannou shocked the world by standing his ground against Tyson Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion disappointed many by delivering an underwhelming performance against the Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist. Since it was Ngannou’s debut boxing match, boxing pundits generally believed Tyson Fury would devour the contest like it was a piece of cake.
However, Ngannou, who wanted to win, surprised Fury with his power and accuracy. Besides making Tyson kiss the floor, ‘The Predator’ chased his opponent till the final second of the fight. However, by doing just enough technically, the 35-year-old won the match via a split decision. At this, given Fury’s performance against Ngannoun, although a former unified world champion lauded ‘The Gypsy King,’ he urged the former to take Oleksandr Usyk more seriously.

Among others, former unified featherweight champion Naseem Hamed attended the high-voltage Ngannou vs. Fury fight in Riyadh. In his opinion, it was a close fight and Tyson Fury disappointed him. In addition, Hamed also felt that Fury underestimated the mixed martial artist. “It was a close fight. I never thought that I would see Tyson be like that, to be honest. I still do think he won the fight by points. He did enough to win the fight. [But] I’m disappointed,” said Naseem Hamed.
Given the fight against Ngannou, Hamed feels Fury should train better for Usyk if he wants to win. “I really don’t think that he trained the way he was supposed to for that fight. So, I’m hoping that he can train hard for the Usyk fight. Because you got to bring the A-game with Usyk,” Hamed declared. In this context, he also stated that Fury better not face Usyk this year after his controversial win against ‘The Predator’.

Prince Naseem feels Fury should not face Usyk this year
Fury recently signed a contract for the Usyk fight. As per reports, the bout will likely happen eight weeks after Ngannou vs. Fury near the very end of 2023. Speaking of which, Hamed announced, “Man, I don’t know about that eight weeks. He’s got a little scratch on his eye. He’s got a little clot on his head.” “I reckon it should be possible next year. I think we should forget about [it] this year,” he added.
