NBA suspended Morant for 25 games in June 2023. The suspension has cost him approximately $7.5 million.

Morant lookalike shocks the NBA world

Ja Morant has captured the attention of the fans around the league because of his Derrick Rose-esque style of play. He has gained acclaim in the league for his insane dunks and lightning-fast speed. His style has made him one of the most marketable NBA athletes. However, his off-court antics forced the NBA to suspend him for 25 games. Morant hasn’t played since May, but fans were left shocked because, apparently, they saw Morant play college basketball. However, it wasn’t Ja, but a doppelgänger named Chaunce Jenkins.

Chaunce Jenkins is a 21-year-old guard who plays for Old Dominion Monarchs. Jenkins has recently attracted attention because of his striking similarities with Ja Morant. The similarities extend beyond facial features; Jenkins’ game is identical to that of Morant. Jenkins has averaged 17 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in seven games this season. Recently, the Instagram page of Ballislife posted about Jenkins. The post has received 94,192 likes (at the time of writing) in two hours. Fans were left amazed by the uncanny resemblance between Jenkins and Morant, both in their playing style and facial features.

The doppelganger effect on fans

Ja Morant is a one-of-a-kind player who has the capabilities to attract more viewers. His fast-paced and aggressive style of play is being missed by fans, especially Grizzlies fans. However, fans got to witness his distinctive style not from Morant himself but from Chaunce Jenkins. Fans were astonished by their similarities. One Instagram user by the name of kolesback93 wrote, “Nahhh I dead thought that was ja at a pro-am.”
