The 2024 NBA Draft generated substantial anticipation as one of the most hyped up draft-classes in NBA history, with Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson being the pick of the bunch. However, the beginning of their NBA journeys could not have been more contrasting for the two prospects. While Wembanyama has become the best player of his team and the cornerstone for their future, Scoot Henderson has taken time to assimilate into the NBA.
The two are set to face off, as the San Antonio Spurs take on the Portland Trail Blazers later tonight. The game between the two is scheduled to tip-off by 9:30 PM, Eastern Time at the Frost Bank Arena in San Antonio. Both the Spurs and the Blazers have struggled to pick up wins, but that was anticipated given that both teams are currently undergoing a rebuilding phase. However, their matchup could provide the fans another opportunity to witness Wembanyama go up against Scoot Henderson.
The last time the two teams met, Scoot Henderson scored 22 points in a Portland victory. However, Wembanyama missed that game due to an injury. So, tonight’s game would be the first time that Scoot and Wembanyama face each other in the NBA. But the Blazers could miss the services of a few key players for tonight’s game. Shaedon Sharpe (thigh), Robert Williams III (knee) and Moses Brown (shoulder) have been all ruled out for the game against San Antonio. The Blazers have also listed Malcolm Brogdon as questionable due to right knee contusion.

Predicted Lineups: Spurs vs Blazers
The San Antonio Spurs would look to break their two-game losing streak by securing a win against the Blazers. Despite possessing a bevy of talented young layers, the Spurs have failed to win games on a consistent basis. Although the Spurs have shown glimpses of their frightening potential, they must begin to secure victories consistently, starting from the next games against the Blazers. They could start the game with Blake Wesley, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Malaki Branham and Victor Wembanyama.

The Portland Trail Blazers have also resorted to rebuilding after trading away Damian Lillard in the offseason. The Blazers drafted Scoot Henderson to replace Dame, but Scoot has taken time to acclimatize to the NBA’s pace and defense. This has meant that the Blazers have struggled to pick up wins. However, there’s a high likelihood that the Blazers could secure a victory against the Spurs. They could begin the game with Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, Jabari Walker, Jerami Grant and DeAndre Ayton.
