The fashion industry and the basketball world are closely connected. When players with big names like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, etc, wear a particular outfit of a brand, they have the power to influence the common people to buy the products of that brand. So, because of that, some brands collaborate with basketball stars by paying them a hefty amount and start a clothing line using the player as a selling point.
The 4x NBA champion Curry in particular is known to support Black designers by wearing the outfits made by them and promotes their brand to a global audience. For this initiative, he has partnered with Rauteken and hopes that this one-of-a-kind collaboration will magnify the voices of Black designers and promote their pieces in the fashion industry.
Recently, he rocked an outfit designed by the Nigerian-born designer Taofeek Abijako and took to Instagram to share that he’s blessed to support a talented designer like Abijako.

Even though he is neither a designer nor a fashion mogul, Curry believes in creatively highlighting the amazing ability for the rest of the world to see. Apart from Taofeek Abijako, many other designers will be a part of his collaboration with Rakuten.
