The GOAT debate is seemingly an endless one. Whether you pick LeBron James or Michael Jordan, you are well set both ways. While Michael has the championships, LeBron has the stats. Both players present equally compelling cases. However, one thing that is regularly ignored in the debate is their respective off-court profiles. While Michael has a clear advantage in sneaker sales and iconography, Bron takes the edge in social justice. That leaves us with business decisions.

The divorce between LeBron James and Happy Meals

LeBron James has built up a business empire for himself. From the launch of his own production company to the many, many investments in different avenues, King James keeps growing his brand. But it is an under-the-radar move by James that we would like to go back to. After a long-standing partnership with Mcdonald’s, Bron changed his allegiance.

A relationship that began in 2010 went on for 5 years. Even though James extended his contract in 2012 for about $ 4 million annually, according to Bleacher Report, he put an end to it in 2015. The reason? Blaze Pizza. A make-your-own pizza fast food chain that James had started investing in, in 2012.

According to Forbes, when he ditched McDonald’s, James lost about $15 million. However, his investment in Blaze Pizza has more than paid off. With more than 10% ownership, LeBron now owns 17 Blaze franchises. As the company saw a record increment in sales, James must be a happy camper as he vacations in France.

As McDonald’s continues its decline, is Jordan’s namesake meal losing value?

The McJordan Meal

Michael Jordan has one of – if not the greatest – careers in the history of basketball. From start to finish, His Airness defined what greatness would look like. However, his nutritional habits didn’t share the same ideals.

As it turns out, Jordan was a notorious eater and would order a burger from his endorsed McDonald’s every morning. The habit became so profound that McDonald’s eventually released a meal named after the Jumpman.

The McJordan became an official addition to the menu that included a bacon burger with BBQ sauce, along with some fries and a drink. With Jordan’s immense popularity, a deal like this with McDonald’s would have certainly helped his popularity.
